We had a decent pick on nice quality rockfish. Then we switched gears and ran to the inside to fish the surface. There were a lot of bass and barracuda, but it was tough to get a bite. Daniel checked in for the Island Spirit out of Ventura Harbor Sportfishing. We had our weekly "Kids Fish Free Sunday" with a super fun group. We had some pretty decent fishing. We started off our day with bottom fishing, and ended up fishing some surface stuff in the afternoon. Our 44 anglers caught 216 rockfish, 24 whitefish, 4 sand bass, 22 calico bass, 41 barracuda, 3 cabazon, 2 sculpin, 1 white seabass. It's been really fun fishing. Cody checked in for the Californian out of Ventura. We had a fun day of fishing with our group with really nice weather, and we had decent fishing to go with it. We spent the first half of the day loading up the bags. We had a lot of people and wanted to make sure everyone took some fish home, so we spent the first half of the day doing some shallow water rockfishing. We had a pretty decent pick there. Then we switched gears and ran inside to check out a couple islands for some barracuda. We finished off our day for 33 anglers with 158 rockfish, 16 whitefish, 8 barracuda, 6 calico bass, 3 sculpin, and 1 lingcod.

We spent a lot of time looking around for seabass and such but no white seabass, so we spent some time drifting for halibut. Daniel checked in for the Island Spirit out of Ventura Harbor Sportfishing. We did do our weekly "Kids Fish Free Special." We had some nice kids on board. We ended up with 175 rockfish, 18 whitefish, 2 cabezon, 2 sculpin, 2 sand bass, 7 calico bass, 1 halibut, and 6 barracuda for our day. We did have pretty good rockfishing and pretty much did that till we were near limits and had dwindling participation. We closed out our day with some surface fishing.
